Christian Theism and the Experience of Suffering
Dr. GREG GANSSLE - Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University.
2020 has been marked by pain and suffering on a global level. If a loving and all powerful God truly exists, it seems like this God would intervene. While the existence and nature of evil has been thought to be strong evidence that God does not exist, it is the concrete experience of suffering that often renders Christian theism irrelevant. Dr. Ganssle will help us explore this dynamic and look at some of the resources of the Christian story for navigating suffering.

The Search for Meaning in a Disenchanted World
DR. PAUL GOULD - Professor of Philosophy of Religion and the Director of the M.A. in Philosophy of Religion at Palm Beach Atlantic University
Even if it's reasonable to believe in God and the Christian faith, is it desirable? How relevant is it to real life? What about our quest for meaning? We all long for a sense of meaning to our lives. Why is that, and where does that longing come from? Does our search for meaning actually point us to the existence of God? How does Christianity uniquely provide substantive answers to our quest for meaning? Does Christianity offer anything really different than other religions or worldviews? Come hear from author and professor, Dr. Paul Gould, as he helps us press into this important topic.

Doesn’t the Bible Condone Slavery?
BRANDON CLEAVER- Master’s in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. Studied at Michigan State University with a major in Journalism and a minor in Sociology. He is currently working toward a Master’s of Divinity at Moody Theological Seminary.
Many people question the moral legitimacy of the Bible, and consequently the God of the Holy Bible, because of the topic of slavery. How can one follow a faith that has been used to support Slavery? Isn’t this hypocritical? There are several passages that discuss slavery, a topic that is particularly loathsome to the modern person due to familiarity of pre-Civil War slavery. But does the inclusion of these worrisome passages mean the Bible condones slavery? Let’s look at this common critique and examine the text. Let’s also take a look at the thoughts of antebellum enslaved African Americans to incorporate their voice on whether the Bible condones slavery.
